Johnathon "John" Perez is a professional Call of Duty player that is currently playing for Team EnVyUs and resides in the United States. John was crowned the MVP of the 2016 World Championship.

John has been playing video games since he was six years old on the PlayStation 1. John started playing games competitively with the release of Tom Clancy: Rainbow Six Vegas 2, from there he moved onto Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. John first started trying to become a professional MLG transferred over to the PlayStation 3 for the 2011 season.

Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2

John spent the majority of the Black Ops 1 season on Team FeaR, alongside ASSASS1N, PHiZZURP and TwiZz. The players proved they could compete with the best, winning MLG Raleigh 2011, as well as 2nd and 3rd placings at Anaheim and Columbus respectively. John did compete at 1 major event for Modern Warfare 3, EGL Manchester, finishing 7-8th on Leverage with essentially a pick-up team of TeePee, ACHES and Nadeshot. Going into the Black Ops 2 season, John spent a short time on Fariko Impact, teaming with KiLLa, Karma and TuQuick for UMG Chicago 2012, where they placed 3rd. John returned to Fear a few months later, to compete at the MLG Winter Championship 2013 and Call of Duty Championship 2013. However, following disappointing placings at both events, John spent the rest of the Black Ops 2 season moving around teams, before ending the year strongly with a win at UMG Dallas 2013 on VanQuish Gaming with Dedo, PHiZZURP and Schillez.

John continued his struggles of finding a long term team throughout Ghosts, and only competed at 5 majors. It was an underwhelming year for John, but he did eventually sign for Strictly Business, and despite not finding success in Ghosts, he would remain with the organisation going into the new game.

Advanced Warfare

John, alongside long time teammate PHiZZURP, played for SB for the start of the AW season, placing 9-12th at the Call of Duty Championship 2015 together with Dedo and Neslo. Given the lack of championships, John moved played for both vVv Gaming and E6 to finish the AW season. He and PHiZZURP did not team together with E6, and his last event with his long time partner was UMG Dallas 2015.

Black Ops 3

After another disappointing year for John, he was undoubtedly hungry for the championship that had alluded him for the past 2 years. Finally finding a long term team alongside other top pros Replays, Saints and SpaceLy on Luminosity Gaming, the outlook for the year looked bright. However this team struggled, and despite the talent of the members, failed to put together a strong enough performance to win an event. They did however qualify for Stage 1 of the league, and placed a respectable 5-8th at the Stage 1 Playoffs. Following the retirement of Replays, John moved to Team EnVyUs, where he would finally find more consistent top placings. Despite starting slow with a 7-8th finish at MLG Anaheim Open 2016,the team (consisting of the leadership of veteran JKap, as well as Apathy, John and the breakout player from Advanced Warfare SlasheR), were confident that with more time they would be able to improve. Their patience was vindicated when the team found consistency, coming 1st in both the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Regular Season (although this was only due to OpTic Gaming forfeiting 4 series due to CWL rulings and suspensions), and the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Playoffs, which netted John his largest cash prize ($16,500) since 2013 champs. At MLG Orlando Open 2016, the final event before champs, the team finished 2nd to OpTic Gaming.

Winning CoD Champs 2016

EnVyUs were placed in Group G with fellow NA team Cloud 9, EU squad Team Vitality and the Australian arm of Orbit - Team Orbit ANZ. John and his team won the group finishing 3-0 series count, and 9-3 map count. Due to OpTic finishing 2nd in group H, the teams met in winner's bracket round 1. nV took the match 3-1, winning the final map (Fringe CTF) 1-0, after Karma made a notoriously questionable play with a dart, taking him out of the action while SlasheR made the only flag cap of the game. In winner's bracket round 2, John and nV faced FaZe, and won the series convincingly 3-0, scoring 18 points to 8 in the Uplink on Evac. In the 3rd round of winners, they came up against the surprise package of the tournament, FAB Games eSports, in what was a closer contest than the FaZe match. nV won the Hardpoint and Uplink comfortably, but dropped the Search and Destroy 5-6. However they closed out to win the series 3-1 in the end, winning the Game 4 CTF 3-2, with John securing the match with a capture with only 22 seconds remaining. Apathy got both the other caps for the team. They now faced Elevate in winners finals. EnVy took the first map comfortably, winning Evac Hardpoint 250-100, notably all players on the team had over 1 minute in the Hardpoint. Elevate won the Search and Destroy and the Uplink though, leaving John and his team fighting for their tournament life. John and Apathy performed very well on Stronghold CTF, going 24-13 and 26-13 (k/d) respectively, and Apathy secured 2 captures for the team. With the series now tied 2-2 going into Infection Search and Destroy, Apathy once again performed strongly finish with 10 kills and only 3 deaths, leading his team to a 6-2 victory against a team renowned for Search and Destroy. Now in Grand Finals, they faced EU team Splyce. Surprisingly, nV lost the hardpoint, a mode they had only lost twice previously in the tournament. However they won the next 3 maps with reasonable ease, and won the series 3-1, crowning them Champions for 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship. John was awarded MVP of the tournament, in recognition of his map winning plays and slaying support he provided.

Infinite Warfare

Due to Apathy's marriage and JKap's and SlasheR's school commitments, the team were less practiced than normal and placed uncharacteristically poorly at the first event of the season 2017 CWL Las Vegas Open, finishing in 17-32nd place. As a result of this, and poor placing's in the the online MLG GameBattles 2K Series tournaments, nV's place in pools at the next event, 2017 CWL Atlanta Open was far from secure. However, winning a 2k tournament, the team just managed to have enough pro points to make pool play. They played well at the event, but fell just short, finishing 3rd. The team then flew to Paris to compete at the 2017 CWL Paris Open. Surprisingly, the team finished as poorly as they had done back in Vegas, placing 9-12th, following back to back 3-0 losses to OpTic Gaming and Splyce. The team practiced heavily after the event, knowing that their placing in Paris was well below their expected standard, and placed top 4 at both of the subsequent online 2K series. The next event for the squad was the Dallas Open, and the team did fair slightly better. Losses in pool play to OpTic, and the surprisingly strong GosuCrew who came from the Open Bracket, meant EnVy had to play through losers bracket. The team made an admirable run, beating SetToDestroyX, Cloud 9 and Luminosity, before eventually being beating in a map 5 by eventual runners up eUnited, placing John and EnVy in 5-6th for the event.
